Final PSAT Post

I am finished with the book it was fantastic but also sad. I learned a lot from it, and it was very inspirational. I think that the Independent reading assignments have really helped me, I can tell I have improved a lot in my reading. I have read 4 books so far this year and next year I plan to read more. I think that the independent reading was worth it.

The Last Lecture

The author and also the narrator of this book is Randy Pausch. His health keeps on getting worse and now the doctors just gave him 3 - 6 months to live. He is making videos and photo albums so that his children can remember him when his children are older. He is also getting prepared for his death, he has his life insurance ready and other things that he needs for his death. So far he still looks very healthy and energetic although his health keeps getting worse. He is pretty much ready to die although he just thinks about how his family will live without him.

The Last Lecture - Randy Pausch

The main character of this book is Randy Pausch. In this book he is giving his last lecture that he will give at Carnegie Mellon University, where he used to be a professor of computer Science. He is a very nice and helpfull person. Randy likes to help others achieve their childhood dreams, and he also likes to help people out with their problems.

So he gave a speech on September 18, 2007 he told the audience about his health issues and how he only had several months to live. He gives a lecture on how to achieve your chilhood dreams.

"Akeelah and the Bee" - Part 2

Did you enjoy it? The movie was very interesting i really enjoyed it because had a lot of emotion and suspense that made me want to keep watching it. The ending was very amazing. I didn't think that they would both win. At first i thought that Akeelah was going to let the Korean kid win, but in the end they both tried there hardest so that they could both become champions. I would totally recomend this movie because it is very intersting and it made me feel like I was actually in the spelling bee. It also made everyone in Akelah's neighborhood come closer together and it helped them to get to know each other better, and by helping Akeelah they also learned new words. Words can help me on everything but if I learn enough words I can have the oppurtunity to get a very high score on the ACT or the SAT tests and I'll be able to get in to the college that I want.

One of the strategies that Akeelah uses is that she keeps time for example she taps her hand to her thigh to concentrate on spelling the words.

Busted - Setting

The setting of this book is in police office and at Hereford Private School. Kim is now attending Hereford and she just met her new room mate. She thinks that they will get along great because they just met and found out that they have many things in common. The time is like in the present because Kim is telling the story as it is happening. Kim says, "The school is everything I had predicted it would be and more." I know that she is very excited to be there but she needs to take things seriously since she is working undercover.

Busted - Character Post

The Main Character of this book is Kim Stratford. She is a dynamic character because she is starting to undergo many changes already. One of them is busting a high school drug ring as an under cover cop. Her mom is the Chief of Police in the city they live in and has to solve the problem, therefore Kim insists that she can help solve the problem although her mom doesn't want her to do it.
